The girls Evolution Series Event on Saturday 16th of March was a success with three club traveling and over 50 girls playing rugby under the Orkney sun.
Deeside RFC, Moray RFC and Lochaber RFC made the trip north with great numbers of girls from P6 to u18s to join the Orkney girls in a day of mix game and development, the palm of the stronger squad going to Lochaber with 24 girls making the trip!
Orkney RFC have won Community Club of the Season in the 2024 Scottish Rugby Community Recognition Award for Caledonia North!

The treasure hunt in Duthie park was cut short by the Aberdeen rain, but the girls enjoyed a visit of the David Welch Winter Garden instead, then headed for Dunnottar Castle as the sky cleared for some amazing views.
Massive congratulations to U16 boys Michael Scarth, Murray Robertson, Ronan Hamilton and Ben Sinclair for their selection in the Caledonia White Team to play Glasgow and the West at the RPC in Dundee this weekend, and to Cailynn Williamson for her selection in the Scotland U16 wider squad who have training and games in Dundee next weekend!
This Sunday, Orkney RFC girls from U12s and U14s are playing in the Evolution Series in Deeside, as well as U16s playing for Caithness in Caithness in the Caley cup:
Orkney Dragons V West of Scotland
Saturday 27th January, KGS Saturday saw the Orkney dragons play their first game of 2024. Starting the year with the first cup game in the Women's National Shield against West of Scotland. WOS landed in Orkney and were greeted by your typical Orkney winters day weather. The game kicked off at 230pm at KGS playing fields in wet and windy conditions. Third time lucky for the 1st XV team as they take on Dumfries Saints at Picky at 2pm on Saturday (Livestream), while the Dragons welcome West of Scotland to KGS at 14:30.

The internal players are in action in Dounby at 12:00 as the Over 30s take on the Under 30s - head along if you fancy a game! The U18s are off on Saturday for a cup game against Ellon RFC. Kick off is 12:00 at Meadows Way. Brilliant win for the firsts in poor conditions in a great game against 3rd placed Howe of Fife to maintain the 100% win record! Next up for them is a top of the table clash against Preston Lodge on 2 December in Prestonpans. Unfortunately the Dragons just lost out to Craig Dunain Ladies in Inverness. Great win for the U16s at Picky on Sunday in the plate quarter final. They now head to Jedburgh to play Jed-Thistle in the semifinal on Saturday 25 November. |
